Spouse Participation in Employee Wellness

Weber State University Employee Wellness encourages the participation of the employee's spouse in various aspects of our program.

Employees have two opportunities to invite a spouse to participate in the Employee Wellness program:

Spouses will need a Wildcard (WSU ID card) to access certain facilities, including the Stromberg Complex and the Wildcat Center.

Spouse Wildcard Information and Instructions

Check out the following benefits that Employee Wellness provides for employees' spouses:

Bonus Program

This program is only available to employees and their spouses that are covered under one of Weber State’s PEHP insurance plans.

Once you complete a personal health assessment, a biometric screening and an additional health activity, you will receive a one-time $300 bonus.

Rewards Program

This program is available to all benefits-eligible employees and their spouses. Through this program, you are rewarded for completing various healthy activities.

Spouses can not earn a monetary reward from this program, but can earn Employee Wellness swag.

Dependent Wildcard Information

A Dependent Wildcard, sometimes referred to as a Spouse Wildcard, provides access to the Stromberg Complex and the Wildcat Center.

The Weber State University employee must initiate the process of obtaining a Dependent Wildcard. Allow at least two weeks to complete the following steps.

Despite the name “Dependent Wildcard,” Employee Wellness programs are not available for additional dependents other than employees’ spouses.

Additional Support Programs

To assist you along your wellness journey, Employee Wellness provides the following support programs:

  • Wellness In 30

Pre-recorded presentations are housed on your Employee Wellness account. Every month, a new webinar will provide information and insight about certain health topics.

  • Wellness In Action

Learn the skills needed to put a new wellness concept into action. Workshops will occur over three sessions spread out over three weeks. Topics include goal setting, office workouts, improving sleep and increasing vegetables.

  • Campaigns/Mini-Campaigns

Short incentive programs that keep employees engaged in improving their overall wellness, including mind, body and spirit. These programs are housed on your Employee Wellness account under the Campaigns tab.

  • Group Exercise

Employee Wellness provides fee-for-service group exercise programs for employees, spouses and retirees. These classes allow faculty, staff and spouses to enjoy group exercise without the presence of students. The cost is $25 per class, or $45 for an all-class pass, per semester. Attending 75% of the semester’s classes can qualify for the Rewards program.

  • Weight Management Support Group

Interested employees and spouses will attend one session a week that includes a weigh-in and education to assist with weight management goals.

  • Health Improvement Classes

Taught by the Employee Wellness staff, these one-hour classes provide health education to reduce elevated blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose through exercise, stress management and nutrition. Classes are offered about once each month.

  • Wellness Coaching

Employees and spouses can meet with a staff member to explore ways to improve in the areas of exercise, nutrition and stress management. During an initial session, the staff member and participant will work to develop weekly wellness goals. Each week, the coach and participants will meet to review goals and develop new weekly goals.

  • Personal Training

Employees and spouses are eligible to participate in six personal training sessions each year, based on intern availability. These sessions will assist with developing confidence to use the machine and free weights on the north side of the Wildcat Arena. For more detailed and advanced training, employees and spouses will be referred to Campus Recreation.

  • WellCats

This six-week long program is a combination of online wellness coaching and personal training. Employees and spouses who displayed elevated (not diagnosed) levels of key biometrics will be eligible for this program. Those who complete 85% of the program will earn points towards the Wellness Pays Rewards program.
