Refund Dates for Tuition and Fees

Refunds, which are reductions in tuition and fee assessment, are calculated based on how many credit hours or classes students are dropping and when they drop them.

Refunds are not based on the percentage of the initial money paid.

Courses dropped after the listed 100% withdrawal period are assessed fees based on the date officially dropped.

The Tuition Refund Estimator app in the eWeber portal helps students estimate how much tuition and fees they may be refunded based on how many classes they’re dropping and when they drop them. See an example of how refunds are calculated.

Students who are receiving tuition assistance through military tuition assistance (TA) agreements can find additional information regarding the refund of unearned TA funds on our military tuition benefits page.

The following list contains tuition and fee refund deadlines and periods.

How Refunds are Calculated

The following are examples that show how refunds are calculated. Dollar amounts will differ by student.

Example 1

  • A student is registered for 10 credit hours and assessed $1981.51 in tuition and fees.
  • The student withdraws from all 10 credit hours at the 80% withdrawal date.
  • The new tuition and fee assessment is based on 80% of the withdrawn credit hours, which in this example would be 2 credit hours.
  • The new tuition and fee assessment is for 2 credit hours, which totals $590.39.
  • The student’s total refund is $1,391.12.

Example 2

  • A student is registered for 12 credit hours and assessed $1,981.51 in tuition and fees.
  • The student withdraws from 5 credits at the 90% withdrawal date.
  • The student is assessed tuition and fees on 7.5 credits because:
    - The student has 7 remaining credits.
    - The student is also assessed tuition and fees on 90% of the withdrawn credits, which comes out to 0.5 credits in this example.
  • The student’s total tuition and fee assessment, based on 7.5 credit hours, is $1,546.79.
  • The student’s total refund is $434.72.
