Tuition and Fees Payment Deadlines

Tuition and fees must always be paid in full by the Friday before classes begin at Weber State University, unless students have one or more of the following established by the Friday before their classes begin:

If financial aid and/or scholarships don’t cover the balance due, the remaining portion must be paid out of pocket by the payment deadline.

If students register after the first day of class, tuition and fees must be paid immediately.

Unpaid tuition and fees are subject to late fees, interest, and/or a registration hold preventing further registration adjustments or the printing of transcripts.

Late Fees

A $40 late payment fee may be assessed to all students who haven't paid their tuition and fee balance in full, signed up for a university-approved monthly payment plan, have pending financial aid, or had their third-party voucher submitted to the Cashier’s Office by the appropriate payment deadline.

If there is an outstanding balance on a student account after financial aid or scholarships have been applied, the student is responsible to pay this amount by the payment deadline to avoid the late payment fee.

If you are experiencing an unforeseen financial disruption, please contact our office to apply for an exception to tuition and fee policy. More information can be found on the student financial petition page or by emailing us at waivers@weber.edu.

After the payment deadline, students have until Friday at 4 p.m. of the week that a student registers or changes classes to avoid the late payment fee.

Students should check their account balance each time they change their class schedule.

Interest Assessment

Interest assessment on unpaid balances will begin 30 days after the beginning of the semester. The annual rate is 12%. Students can avoid interest charges as long as they are enrolled in a Monthly Payment Plan or have pending Financial Aid that covers all tuition and fees. Interest on unpaid balances will be assessed in addition to the late/collection payment fees.

Registration Holds

A registration hold may be placed on a student’s record if the student is not enrolled in a monthly payment plan or courses are not paid by the end of the third week of class each semester. Holds prevent students from registering for classes, graduation, and the printing of transcripts.

There will be a registration hold placed on a student’s account for subsequent semesters for nonpayment of tuition and fees. The hold will remain until tuition and fees are paid in full.

Collections

Students must pay all charges by the appropriate deadline. A 1% collection fee will be assessed each week of the semester to any unpaid balance on a student’s account beginning as early as four weeks after the payment deadline. These charges will be in addition to interest and late fees and will not exceed 10% of the unpaid balance. In the event an account remains unpaid, it may be referred out for additional collection enforcement.

According to PPM 5-5, the university may administratively withdraw a student from the current semester if a student has an unpaid tuition and fee balance from a prior semester or if the student provides a dishonored check or other payment to pay for tuition and fees. The prior semester courses will not be dropped or withdrawn.
