Radiologic Sciences Bachelor’s Degrees

The School of Radiologic Sciences bachelor’s degree programs provide ARRT-certified radiologic technologists with skills in advanced radiologic sciences specialties, sonography, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy.

If you already have a certification in a specialized discipline, we may award credit hours upon review of your credentials to obtain a bachelor's degree.

This degree is available in multiple locations with multiple delivery options. Both programs require travel to Ogden, Utah for classes once per month.

  • Campus Program: students in this program live in Utah and are assigned clinical sites in Utah.
  • Regional Program: students in this program live outside of Utah and secure their own clinical site.

DEGREE PROGRAMS

Advanced Radiologic Sciences

Advanced radiologic sciences offers skills for medical imaging careers, along with technical, management, and educational positions.

This program has six available emphases:

  • Advanced Radiologic Sciences (no clinical education required)
  • Computed Tomography (CT)
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Mammography
  • CT/MRI Combined
  • Interventional Imaging (II)

Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Diagnostic medical sonography prepares you for a career as a sonographer, using ultrasound to produce images of organs, tissue and blood flow inside the body.

Sonographers help detect heart disease and vascular disease and help perform fine-needle tissue guided biopsy procedures.

Students must choose one of two available emphases: cardiac or medical.

Nuclear Medicine

Our nuclear medicine program trains you to become a nuclear medicine technologist, using sophisticated detectors interfaced with computerized imaging systems to create images of the patient’s body.

Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy students learn to administer targeted doses of radiation to a patient’s body to treat cancer or other diseases. As the radiation strikes tissue, it produces highly energized ions that gradually shrink and destroy the nucleus of malignant tumor cells.

Independent Study Programs

The Independent Study program is available for two categories of eligible students, including those who wish to earn an online Bachelor of Science in Advanced Radiologic Sciences.

PROGRAM COSTS

Campus Programs

Campus students pay in-state tuition rates.

Regional Programs

Regional students pay $3,450 per semester.

Independent Study Programs

Tuition is $316 per credit hour, which is set by WSU’s Division of Online & Continuing Education.

Independent study program students aren't eligible for tuition waivers, including nonresident waivers, as the tuition rate is already discounted. However, they may be eligible for certain private scholarships and are encouraged to complete a Scholarship Universe application to be considered.

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH A RADIOLOGIC SCIENCES BACHELOR'S DEGREE?

Graduates can work in their specialized fields in health care facilities, while also expanding into areas such as research, health services administration, education, commercial applications, marketing and sales, and consulting.
