Apply for Radiologic Sciences Independent Study Programs
Application information for the School of Radiologic Sciences’ Independent Study programs can be found on this webpage.
Fill out your application as completely as possible. All information provided will be used in the selection process for each program.
Your completed application will be reviewed by the Independent Study Admissions Committee for consideration.

If you are conditionally accepted into a program, you will receive a letter in your student email account from the School of Radiologic Sciences.
Attached to that email will be an acceptance agreement, which must be signed and returned to the school. Once this is done, you can start your onboarding process, which includes required immunizations, drug testing and a background check.

Applications for this program are not being accepted at this time.
This application is for students who have failed the ARRT Radiography Certification Exam and are seeking eligibility to retake the exam.

Step 1: Apply to Weber State University
Apply to Weber State as an "Online Nonresident" student and send official transcripts to the Admissions Office. You will need your “W” number and student email address to apply to the program.
Applying as an Online Nonresident student lets you receive resident/online only tuition and fee rates.

Step 2: Review Prerequisites
The following items are all required.
- Must have an associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- All completed courses must have a "C" grade or higher.
- Applicants need to secure their own clinical site and complete the Independent Study Clinical Site Approval Form (PDF) before applying to the program.
- Applicants must be within their three-year window of their radiography degree (associate’s degree) graduation date.
- Applicants must have three ARRT exam scores, one of which must be 70% or above.
- If a student has less than three ARRT exam attempts within that three-year window, the student is not eligible for remediation.
We do not provide students with a list of approved clinical sites. Due to California state law, we cannot accept applicants who have clinical sites in California.

Step 3: Apply for Independent Study
You will need the following to apply:
- Official or unofficial transcripts
- The past three dates of your ARRT exam attempts
- Your last three ARRT exam scores
- Upload the Independent Study Clinical Site Approval Form (PDF) with your application.
- $25 nonrefundable application fee
Once an application has been submitted, allow 4-6 weeks for application processing.
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ADVANCED RADIOLOGIC SCIENCES
This application is for students who are previously-certified technologists and wish to complete an online Bachelor's Degree in Advanced Radiologic Sciences. There are no clinical education requirements for this program. This program does not lead to ARRT certification.
