Community Engagement Student Teams

Community Engagement Student Teams allow you to plan, facilitate and participate in meaningful service opportunities at Weber State. You can participate in various ways, including general service and volunteering, community based research, joining the Pathways Fellowship Team or participating in Alternative Breaks. These programs provide opportunities for students to engage in HIEEs of their choosing.

Students not actively members of a Community Engagement Student Team need to reach out to Teresa Martinez at teresamartinez1@weber.edu to learn how to receive credit for the Wildcat Advantage program.

Community Engaged Learning

Community Engaged Learning (CEL) attribute courses are offered each semester through many academic departments across campus and count as a HIEE. In CEL courses, students engage in meaningful community engagement that is connected to their specific course’s academic objectives.

Students interested in CEL should search for courses with the CEL attribute when registering for classes. CEL courses are a great way to apply classroom knowledge to community needs while getting Wildcat Advantage credit.

Students may also receive a Wildcat Advantage credit from service completed outside the classroom or for a class without a CEL attribute if additional steps are completed. Reach out to Teresa Martinez at teresamartinez1@weber.edu to learn how to receive credit for the Wildcat Advantage program.

Need help determining which HIEE is best for you?

If a community engaged opportunity falls outside one of these categories, please contact Teresa Martinez at teresamartinez1@weber.edu to see if it can count as a CEL HIEE. Not sure which HIEE is best for you? Reach out to Jenny Frame at jennyframe@weber.edu for more information.
