ePortfolio
Canvas has announced that Portfolium/Folio (Canvas ePortfolios) will be retired on June 30, 2026. Students will lose access to their Folio content when the tool is decommissioned. If you or your students have materials stored in Folio that you wish to keep, please download them before the retirement date. Instructure has provided details on downloading Folio content.

ePortfolios are an innovative way for students to market themselves. Through ePortfolios, you can visually communicate your skills and accomplishments with future employers.
By creating an ePortfolio, you’ll benefit from:

Showcase Your Abilities: Display specific samples of your work & skills to future employers or graduate programs.

Recommended ePortfolio Platforms
Creating an ePortfolio is a great way to showcase your journey. Before you dive into the specific tools below, keep the following in mind:
- Choose what works for you: There is no "right" platform. Pick the one that feels most comfortable and fits your aesthetic.
- Public Access: Whichever platform you choose, you must be able to create a public link so your instructor and employers can view your work.
- Explore the Links: Click through the links below to find guides, tutorials, and examples for each recommended platform.
Make it Shine
A strong ePortfolio is intentional, reflective, and visually engaging. Consider the following tips:
- Reflect Deeply: Use the What → So What → Now What model to explain the meaning behind each artifact. Your reflection is what transforms an assignment into evidence of learning.
- Reflection Matters: Reflection is the heart of your ePortfolio. It transforms assignments into evidence of learning. Strong reflections help employers understand not just what you did, but why it mattered and how it shaped your skills. Use reflection to connect your experiences to your future goals.
- Know Your Audience: Tailor your tone, layout, and examples to the audience you want to impress. Think about who will view your ePortfolio:
- Faculty
- Employers
- Graduate programs
- Community partners
- Use Multimedia: Multimedia makes your work more engaging and helps demonstrate your skills in dynamic ways. Enhance your ePortfolio with:
- Images
- Video clips
- Audio recordings
- Infographics
- Screenshots
- Get Feedback: Ask peers, instructors, mentors, or supervisors to review your site and offer suggestions. Fresh eyes can help you catch errors and improve clarity.
- Take Ownership: Your ePortfolio is your story; make it authentic, meaningful, and representative of your goals. Choose artifacts and reflections that highlight your strengths and aspirations.
Keep Going After Graduation
As you continue using your ePortfolio beyond graduation, keep the following in mind:
- Maintain Access: Some platforms require switching to a personal account or paid plan after graduation. Make sure you keep access to your site.
- Know Platform Limits: Adobe Express Websites and Adobe Portfolio may require a paid plan or account change after you leave WSU.
- Back Up Your Work: Download your artifacts, reflections, and files to a personal drive so you can rebuild or move your ePortfolio later.
- Keep It Updated: Add new projects, jobs, internships, and accomplishments over time. A current ePortfolio helps you stay ready for opportunities.

By including ePortfolios in your curriculum, you can help students create an ePortfolio through Folio, a digital portfolio platform, to showcase the skills they learn in your courses. Refer students to the information above. Canvas Commons templates make implementing ePortfolios easy and efficient. Sign in to Canvas Commons and enter "ePortfolios" into the search bar.
