Excellence in Community Engagement

Excellence in Community Engagement recognizes graduates who promote community engagement while maintaining academic excellence.

Honorees will be awarded a certificate and community engagement honor cord to be worn at graduation. Additionally, the Excellence in Community Engagement recognition will be noted on the students' transcripts and diplomas as well as in the graduation program.

Criteria

This program is available to graduating seniors who meet the following criteria:

  • Current cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Completion of 300 hours of documented service, democratic engagement or community research in a non-profit community organization(s) during your college career.  (Note: Qualifying education institutions must meet qualifying criteria).

OR 

  • Current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Completion of 400 hours of documented service, democratic engagement or community research in a non-profit community organization(s) during your college career.  (Note:  Qualifying education institutions must meet qualifying criteria).

Application Process

  1. Complete the Excellence in Community Engagement Application.  This application must be completed and submitted to the CCEL by October 29, 2018.

  2. Ensure all hours are documented through the Center for Community Engaged Learning.  If your hours are NOT already documented in the CCEL at WSU through our old online tracking system, WeberSync, or our new online tracking system, Weber Connect, you will need to enter these hours.  Weber Connect can be downloaded to your phone for either iOs or Android. All hours need to be entered in either the old system of WeberSync (could only be entered prior to August 1, 2018) or the new system Weber Connect (can be entered now) and approved by close of day October 29, 2018.

The deadline for applying for this recognition is October 29, 2018.  This is a firm date and no exceptions will be made.
