Special Olympics is often the only place where participants have an opportunity to participate in their communities and build their self-confidence. Many live lives of neglect and isolation, hidden away or socially excluded from full participation in schools or society.
Weber State University students who volunteer with this program provide a gateway to empowerment, competence, acceptance and joy for the Special Olympics athletes. Volunteers form meaningful relationships as they coach athletes each week and participate in annual state and national Summer and Winter Games.
