| What is AmeriCorps? |
- AmeriCorps is a national service program initiated by President Clinton, often referred to as the "domestic" Peace Corps.
- AmeriCorps provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with education awards in exchange for community service.

| How does it work? |
- Students engage in service activities and report time and progress to a sponsor.
- The hours accumulate over the course of 12 months.
- At the end of the service, students exit the program and receive the scholarship.
- There are three scholarship amounts, correlating to three different service terms:
- 300 hours in one calendar year = $1,000
- 450 hours in one calendar year = $1,250
- 900 hours in up to two calendar years = $2,363

| Are you eligible? |
- Must be a student at an institution of higher education in the state of Utah when enrolled.
- 17 years of age or older
- GED/Diploma (or obtain one during the year of service)
- U.S. Citizen or Resident Alien

| How do I sign up? |
- First declare your interest in the AmeriCorps Education Awards program by filling out the form attached to this link.
- Submit your completed form to the Community Involvement Center located in room 94 of the Stewart Library.
- Our office staff will contact you regarding the next AmeriCorps training session.
- You attend the training (approximately 1 1/2 hours in length and bring proof of citizenship - copy of birth certificate or passport)
- Complete the official AmeriCorps application and submit appropriate paperwork to the Community Involvement Center.
