Mammography Certificate
Weber State University’s mammography certificate program offers technologists the opportunity to gain the skills they need to become a mammographer in one semester, without pursuing a bachelor's degree. Mammography aids in the early diagnosis of breast cancer. Screening and diagnostic mammography exams are performed by registered mammography technologists.
You’ll learn mammography anatomy, physiology, positioning and quality assurance.
Students who complete the mammography program also fulfill the federal requirements for the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) certification.
This certification is accepted by many states and may be used to fulfill state licensing regulations.
Upon completion of this certificate, you can take the national certification examination given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
States often require practicing technologists to be licensed. Utah requires practicing radiologic technologists to be licensed by the state.

- RADT 4563: Mammographic Positioning/Imaging Techniques (3)
- RADT 4583: Mammographic Equipment and Quality Assurance (3)
- RADT 4863: Clinical Internship (3)
- RADT 4933: Research Methods (3)
PREREQUISITES
- An Associate of Applied Science degree, an Associate of Science degree, or higher
- ARRT certification
Applicants may apply to the program while in progress of completing their associate’s degree and ARRT certification, but these must be completed before the program start date.
PROGRAM FORMAT
This is a one-semester, hybrid program. Students attend in-person classes, and virtual support classes on Zoom. Students spend 24 hours per week at their clinical site.
PROGRAM COST
Students are charged undergraduate tuition and fee rates.
