STUDENT SUCCESS STORIES

When I was approached to become co-president of AWE I knew right away it was a club I could get behind. Dr. Amydee Fawcett encouraged me to make the club my own. She released full creative control and asked Ambar and I to focus on growing the members. From our first block party we were successful in recruiting 15 amazing new members and are continuing to grow. After our first club meeting, where I got to get to know the members, I knew with out a doubt this is the organization I want to be apart of for the remainder of my Senior year.

STUDENT OFFICERS

AMANDA
co-president

I transferred to Weber State University to finish my higher education and provide a better life style for my son and I. The academic competitiveness of the university was something I noticed immediately. The professors truly invest in providing you with a raw and authentic educational experience. They push you, in a good way, to get involved outside the classroom and so I did just that.

Our club is a way to provide students with extra resources and learning opportunities outside the classroom. My goal in AWE is to help empower female students to take leadership roles in the work place. To motivate them to become influential leaders of their communities and assist in providing them with experiences and memories to reflect on for the rest of their lives.

I am so excited to be apart of something bigger than myself and we have a lot of exciting things happening this year in AWE.

AMBAR
co-president

I recently graduated with my Associate of Arts Degree in Spanish. This has made me the first person in my family to graduate with a degree. I plan on being the first person to graduate from the Goddard School of Business with my Bachelor’s Degree. My mother was the first person from her family to come to America when she was fifteen years old and she has taught me that you have to be the person to achieve your goals.

A big reason why I became a co-president is because Dr. Amydee Fawcett, the AWE advisor, had believed in me enough to ask me to be a co-president. Her passion and belief in me was a large part of the reason why Amanda Skinner and I were chosen to be the Co-Presidents of the club. Amanda and I along with a handful of members were the only members in the summer of 2017. Fast forward to Fall 2017 and we now have triple that amount. My family, my education, and this club are two ways that I am reaching my goals.
