Application

WSU Charter Academy will be suspending classroom operations for a period of two academic years (2023-2024 and 2024-2025), reopening classrooms in fall 2025.
The Charter Academy Board of Directors will be actively investigating potential models for programming, curriculum, and grade configuration to best meet the changing needs of children and families in our community and the Weber State Early Childhood Education teacher education programs.

More information will be provided as the process progresses including ways in which you may become involved.

Open enrollment is held from January 1 through February 28. We have room for 22 children in each of our classrooms, for a total of 44 students. If there are more than 22 applicants for each classroom, a lottery will be held in March to determine which students are placed in a classroom. If fewer than 44 students apply for the school, all applicants will receive placement.

To enroll in the WSU Charter Academy, submit the electronic application for your child during the open enrollment period.. Application submission does not guarantee admission.

Applications will continue to be accepted after February 28 and may receive available space or be placed on the waitlist. New applications received after the closing date of the initial open enrollment period will not be entered into the initial lottery but will be held in the lottery pool until a vacancy is available.

Lottery

If we receive more applications than we have available space in our classrooms, a lottery will be held in March to decide which children receive placement in the classroom.

If necessary, the initial lottery will be held at in March. The lottery will fill the number of spots available, and then a priority waitlist will be created for the remaining applicants.

You will be notified of the lottery date, time, and place via email, and are invited to attend the lottery, but not required. If you submit an application online and do not receive a lottery number, please do not fill out another application. Call the school at 801-626-6343 or email charteracademy@weber.edu to check the status of your application.

We will notify you of your child’s application status within three working days of when the lottery takes place. You will then have two weeks to complete and return the acceptance/rejection form.

If there are unfilled spaces remaining, applications may be immediately accepted, or subsequent lotteries may be conducted as needed until the targeted enrollment numbers are met.

WSU Charter Academy is not responsible for incorrect contact information or the inability to contact you; it is your responsibility to ensure that the information on the lottery application is correct. The status of any child whose parent cannot be contacted or is not responsive within the designated time period will be changed from “accepted” to “declined enrollment” and the space will be offered to another child.

The WSU Charter Academy may give preference in its random lottery to the following according to policy:

First Preference: to children of founders
Second Preference: to children of teachers and on DaVinci Academy kindergarten waitlist
Third Preference: to siblings of students presently enrolled in the charter academy
Fourth Preference: to children of employees of the charter academy.
