Student Awards

Each semester, the Honors Program recognizes outstanding seniors whose work, leadership, and curiosity exemplify the values of Honors education. Students may apply for one or more of the awards below.

 

Who Can Apply?

These awards are open to Honors students in their final semester before graduation.

Application Deadline for Fall 2025: November 28, 2025

Awards will be announced at the Winter Celebration on December 5, 2025 at 12:00pm.

Community Impact

Community Impact Award

The Community Impact Award honors students who identify needs in their community and respond with creativity, perseverance, and empathy. Recipients demonstrate leadership, inclusivity, and active citizenship through volunteer work, advocacy, mentorship, or program development. This award celebrates both the tangible outcomes of their efforts and the spirit behind them, recognizing students who inspire collective action and embody the university’s highest ideals of service, connection, and social responsibility.

Award recipients are changemakers who use their skills, knowledge, and energy to strengthen communities and create positive, lasting impact. Through their efforts, they model integrity, collaboration, and a commitment to making the world a better place.

Interdisciplinary Projects

Interdisciplinary Project Award

The Interdisciplinary Project Award honors students who integrate diverse academic perspectives to create new knowledge, design innovative solutions, or address complex problems that could not be tackled within a single discipline alone. Recipients demonstrate critical thinking, collaboration, and initiative, often working across departments or with external partners. Their projects showcase originality, creativity, and the ability to synthesize knowledge from multiple fields to produce meaningful outcomes.

This award celebrates students who push the boundaries of conventional thinking, connecting ideas, people, and disciplines to drive discovery and impact. Recipients exemplify the transformative potential of interdisciplinary learning and the skills necessary to thrive in a complex, interconnected world.

Curious Thinker

Curious Thinker Award

The Curious Thinker Award recognizes students who approach ideas, beliefs, and traditions with curiosity, openness, and analytical rigor. Recipients demonstrate the ability to question assumptions, consider multiple perspectives, and thoughtfully analyze cultural, societal, or global contexts.

This award celebrates students who exhibit intellectual bravery, reflective thinking, and respect for diverse ways of knowing. Through their work, they challenge conventional thinking, explore complex questions, and engage thoughtfully with the world. Recipients embody the spirit of inquiry and lifelong learning, showing how critical reflection and curiosity can lead to deeper understanding and meaningful insights.
