HONORS PORTFOLIO
The Honors Portfolio is a required final project for students graduating with Honors. It replaces a traditional capstone and is intended to be both reflective and practical. Your portfolio showcases your work, growth, and accomplishments in the Honors Program — and can also serve as a professional tool for grad school, jobs, or other opportunities.
How to Create Your Portfolio
- You can use any platform you like (LinkedIn, Google Sites, Adobe, Canva, Notion, etc.)
- If you already have a portfolio for other purposes, you can simply add your Honors coursework and experiences to it.
- If you don’t have a portfolio, create one that includes your Honors content. You can also include other accomplishments or projects so it becomes a tool for use after graduation.
- Your portfolio must be accessible and shareable via a link.
- It should be visually clear, organized, and easy to follow.
- Format can be creative or professional depending on your goals.
Submission Process
- Fall Semester Graduates: Submit by October 1
- Spring Semester Graduates: Submit by March 1
- Summer Semester Graduates: Submit by August 1
Students will submit a link to their portfolio for review in Canvas. A rubric will be used to check for completion and quality. You will receive feedback from the Honors Review Board.
Portfolio Sections & Instructions
Introduction / About Me
Introduce yourself and your journey in the Honors Program. Include your interests, goals, and reflections on what being in Honors has meant to you. Optional: photos, videos, or other creative elements.
Honors Coursework
Include 3 artifacts from your Honors classes (papers, projects, presentations, or other assignments). For each, include a reflection (~300 words). Reflection prompts include:
- Why did you choose this assignment or project?
- What about this work was most meaningful or challenging?
- Did completing this work challenge you to think differently or ask new questions?
- How did you apply ideas, methods, or skills from other disciplines?
- How did you communicate your ideas through this assignment?
- What did you learn about yourself as a thinker, learner, or collaborator?
Beyond the Classroom
Include 3 experiences outside the classroom that contributed to your growth as an Honors student. Examples: internships, research, leadership, service, study abroad, or other experiences. Even if you don’t have a tangible artifact, describe the experience, your role, and outcomes. For each, include a reflection (~300 words). Reflection prompts include:
- Why did you participate in this experience?
- What was most meaningful personally or academically?
- How did it challenge or expand your assumptions?
- What skills, ideas, or concepts did you develop?
- How did you share your ideas or work with others?
- How might it influence your next steps or future opportunities?
