I started attending Weber State during high school by taking concurrent enrollment classes. I particularly enjoyed the more business-centered classes as well as the computer tech courses, so the MIS degree was a perfect fit for me.

The MIS major offered the perfect mix of technical skills, soft skills, and business acumen. I knew I would be well positioned to enter the job market after obtaining this degree.

The Goddard School does an amazing job at connecting with its students. The professors make an effort to know your name, challenge you, and help you succeed. They went above and beyond to ensure that I was getting the most out of their course by helping me to build up my resume and prepare me with the current knowledge and skills needed to enter the competitive job market.

FACULTY IMPACT

Dr. Randy Boyle has played a key role in where I am today. From the first day of his Intro to MIS course, he inspired me to pursue a career in cybersecurity and attend graduate school at Carnegie Mellon University. Not only did Dr. Boyle meet with me after class and during office hours, he took the time to respond to any emails I sent him, look over my application papers for graduate school, and made an effort to get to know me as a person and not just a student. He is a phenomenal professor.

Attending the Goddard School is the best decision you could make! It is the best business school in Utah in terms of ROI. To any incoming students, be prepared to work hard, be challenged, learn a lot, and make new friends. I think that making new friends, or networking, is huge! Do not pass up the opportunity to meet new people, as they could potentially help you get a great job in the future. The same goes for getting to know your professors, as well. They are more than willing to meet with you, get to know you, and write you a letter of recommendation if you need one

WHERE ARE YOU NOW? // CAREER ASPIRATIONS

I am graduating from Weber State in April 2021, and then I will be attending Carnegie Mellon University in August 2021 to begin graduate studies in cybersecurity. There are many pathways I could take after obtaining my master's degree, and I am excited to see where I will ultimately end up. My goal is to become a Chief Information Security Officer for a large organization.
