ABOUT


Lisa Hopkins joined the faculty of Weber State University in 2013 and is an instructor in the School of Accounting & Taxation at the Goddard School of Business & Economics. She also serves as the co-faculty advisor for both Beta Alpha Psi and WSU’s Tax Center’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA).

Hopkins holds a master’s degree in accounting from WSU and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Utah. She teaches introductory and intermediate financial accounting courses in the Goddard School’s undergraduate program. Since 1990, her accounting career has involved working for a public company, privately owned corporations and a public accounting firm. She continues to actively work as a CPA by providing consulting services to her clients.

Hopkins has found her passion at Weber State University teaching in the School of Accounting & Taxation. She loves what she does and enjoys making a difference in the lives of her students. Not many people can go to work every day and say they love what they do. Hopkins is one of those fortunate people.

Consult with clients periodically throughout the year on financial accounting and reporting issues. Client based contract work has included: implementation of new accounting software for staffing corporation, research of tax regulations and audit of calculations used in business tax return preparation software, redevelopment of Finance Committee package for large privately held medical corporation and performance of pro bono annual reviews of elementary and high school PTA financials.

Actively participated on the firm’s marketing committee and spearheaded university involvement and recruiting.

Developed business clientele in land development, general contracting, property management, homeowner associations, and other service areas with company structures including S-Corporation, LLC and sole proprietor.
