Dale Stephen Cowgill, age 77, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 5. He was born on January 30, 1934 in Washington, D. C. to Anne Seaton and Perry Parker Cowgill. The family moved to Ogden when Dale was in the sixth grade. He was graduated from Ogden High School, Weber State College and the University of Utah with a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering.
In 1955, he and Mary Lou Randall were married in Ogden, then moved to Delaware where he worked in the chemical industry. He also served six months active duty in the Army. He returned to school at Iowa State University where he earned a Ph.D. in Metallurgy.
He worked in the Aerospace industry in southern California and with the AEC in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. In 1969 he was offered his ideal job and returned to Weber State as professor of Manufacturing Engineering Technology. He also served as Dean of Engineering Technology and President of Utah Technical College at Salt Lake (now Salt Lake Community College).
