College of Science Student Senator

Hello Weber Science students,

I am excited to serve as this year's College of Science Senator. I am a junior majoring in environmental science with a minor in geology. My long-term career goal is to work in vertical farming, with a focus on hydroponics and aeroponics. I am passionate about sustainable agriculture and finding innovative ways to grow food while protecting our environment.

I wanted to become the College of Science Senator because I wanted to challenge myself and continue growing as a leader. This position gives me the opportunity to strengthen my leadership skills while serving you and representing the students in the College of Science.

One of my main goals this year is to improve communication between students and the student government by making sure you receive important information accurately and on time. I also want to be someone you feel comfortable reaching out to with questions, concerns, or ideas. My goal is to build a stronger sense of connection within the College of Science and make sure every student knows their voice matters.

To help accomplish these goals, I plan to:

  • Office Hours: Feel free to reach out to me at pragyaacharya@weber.edu, and we can set up a time to meet and chat about anything—school-related or not. I am here to support you.
  • Clubs and Orgs: I will connect with the College of Science clubs and organizations and help ensure they have the support they need to run smoothly. Our clubs are a great way to get students involved and build a stronger college community.
  • Media Outreach: Social media is an important way to share campus events, opportunities, and resources. I will work to increase outreach, so you stay informed and connected. You can also follow the College of Science on Instagram @weberstatescience.

One of my favorite things about the College of Science is how supportive the professors and advisors are. I also appreciate the tutoring services available to students. I enjoy spending time in Tracy Hall, especially seeing the gorilla and mountain lion specimens, and the fourth-floor greenhouse is one of my favorite places on campus.

I hope you'll reach out if you have questions, concerns, ideas, or suggestions throughout the year. Your voice is important, and I encourage you to email me, stop and say hello if you see me on campus, or connect with our College of Science community through our clubs and events. I look forward to working together to make the College of Science an even stronger community.

Best,

Pragya Acharya
