THREE COLLEGE OF SCIENCE INITIATIVES

Yellowstone National Park

WSU Greater Yellowstone Field Station

The College of Science is raising funds to establish a permanent research base in the heart of the Yellowstone Ecosystem. Imagine a place where Wildcats read about ecology, geology, or zoology—and live it.

Why a Field Station?

  • Year-Round Research: A dedicated hub for faculty and student collaboration
  • Immersive Learning: Moving beyond the classroom into 22 million acres of living laboratory
  • Impact: Real-world data collection that contributes to the preservation of our natural world
Telescope

Strengthen the Tools for Student Research

We’re investing in the tools that turn curiosity into real‑world discovery—precision microscopes, advanced telescopes, analytical instruments, and the materials that make high‑level student research possible.

Why Instrumentation?

  • Research: Students learn science and practice it.
  • Cutting‑Edge Skills: Training on the same equipment used in professional labs and observatories.
  • Impact: Data, insights, and innovations that ripple far beyond campus.
Great Salt Lake

Sun Smart Under the Utah Sun

Why sun safety?

  • Direct Prevention: Providing high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, lip balm, and hats to those most at risk in our thin mountain air.
  • Targeted Education: Spreading awareness about the unique intensity of UV rays in Utah.
  • Long-term Impact: Reducing the prevalence of skin cancer through proactive outreach and early intervention.
  • Read about the UV Crew student club.
