College of Science Interdisciplinary Programs
The College of Science has three interdisciplinary programs: an Associate of Science in Biology, a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, and a Master of Science in Data Science.
Our interdisciplinary programs combine two or more academic disciplines into one program, create a space for the synthesis of ideas and characteristics from many disciplines, and develop important, transferable skills by thinking across the boundaries of departments.
Associate of Science in Biology
Biology students take the same classes as those earning bachelor’s degrees in botany, zoology and microbiology, making it easy to transition to a four-year degree program.
This degree prepares students to complete a bachelor’s degree in botany, microbiology, or zoology, earn a teaching degree at Weber State University, or continue in required coursework to meet entrance requirements for professional schools.
Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science
The environmental science degree program prepares students to combine life and physical sciences to assess and protect environmental quality, ecosystem functioning, and human health. Environmental Science students have an opportunity to complete an undergraduate research project.
With your degree, you can become an environmental scientist, a problem solver who works on complex issues such as climate change, sustainability, natural resources, or wildlife and ecosystem conservation.
Master of Science in Data Science
Data science is the study of data to extract meaningful insight and utilize that data to predict what will happen next. Our program is designed for working professionals, offering both evening and online classes.
You’ll go beyond spreadsheets to master the four-part foundation of data science: identifying hidden assumptions, cleaning messy datasets, building predictive mathematical models, and crafting compelling narratives.
