Expectations of a Mentee

Attendance and Participation

Regularly attend scheduled mentorship meetings, workshops, and activities. Actively engage in discussions, ask questions, and seek clarification when needed. You get what you put in! A proven tip is to meet with your mentor on a monthly basis for about an hour.

Professional Communication

Behave professionally with your mentor and communicate concerns, needs, and any needed changes to meeting times. Make sure to meet any deadlines on time if you and your mentor set any. Be open to constructive feedback and maintain open and respectful communication.

Reciprocal Relationship

Mentoring is a two-way street. As a mentee, you can contribute to your mentoring relationship by supporting your mentor or by providing perspective on your mentor’s experiences. Mentors can also learn and grow!

Set Goals

Mentoring is what you want it to be. With your mentor, define your goals for your relationship with them and define what you want to learn from your mentoring relationship. You drive your mentoring experience.
