REQUESTING MENTOR GRADUATION CORDS

Are you graduating this semester? Apply for your Mentor graduation cord. The Office of Mentoring Programs is proud to recognize undergraduate seniors who served in peer educator roles to wear over graduation robes as a symbol of the valuable work they did with their peers through this high-impact educational experience.

CREATING A MENTORING PROGRAM

Our office would love to help faculty and staff create a new mentoring program or support a current program in their area.

To create a new mentoring program, here are some things to consider:

  • Does your program have mentors currently, or have a plan to provide mentors? (Are they getting compensation? What are their responsibilities?)
Does your program have goals or learning outcomes for interested students or mentors?

Ready to get started? Have a look at our template resource to create a new mentor program. This resource will help answer and keep track of the logistics behind creating or improving mentoring programs across campus.

If you have any questions or would like access to additional guidelines for developing your program, contact our Mentorship Development and Implementation Coordinator, Ryan Mills, at ryanmills3@weber.edu.

Canvas - Mentoring Program

Are you a faculty member or someone who manages a Canvas course? Would you like to help us get the word out on mentoring? Consider adding our new mentoring module to your Canvas course!

This module introduces mentoring (What is it? What does it look like? Why does it matter?) as well as the different types of mentoring programs and services available to students at Weber. The module includes video interviews with mentees and mentors from various programs. Students will also find documents to help them prepare for mentoring sessions. For instructors, we included optional assignments to assign to your students if you'd like!

To add the canvas module, find it in Canvas Commons under the name "Mentoring Programs - Intro to Mentoring" and click import. If you DO add the course, please let us know so we can seek feedback on our module in the near future.

Unsure about getting a mentor or wondering which mentoring program is right for you?
Our office is ready to help you learn more and get connected today!
