Welcome Back, Wildcats!

To all 3,000 students who make up the heart and soul of the College of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology (EAST) — welcome back to Weber State University! As we kick off this new academic year, our EAST staff and faculty are energized to have you back on campus and in our active learning, student-focused classrooms and labs.  

We hope you are as excited as we are to collaborate, exchange ideas, and increase your expertise and earning power in the increasingly innovative technology disciplines offered by our college. To ensure you are prepared for your professional and academic career, EAST continues to  stay current with rapid changes in technology — from curriculum updates to hands-on lab experiences — specifically to keep you ahead of the game. Our faculty and dedicated advising staff are here to support you every step of the way to ensure your success.

As students, university staff and faculty, and community members, we’re presently immersed in messaging that emphasizes the benefits of Artificial Intelligence (AI), which has emerged as the next significant disruption in both technology and society.  Together, as we sort out the role that AI will play in our workplace and in our daily routines, I want to enthusiastically underscore that one of the most powerful aspects of your time here at EAST is the agency you hold. You are in direct control of your future, and through your education, you have the unique opportunity to shape what that future looks like.

An EAST education allows you to master the tools of your trade, and AI represents one such tool. There is incredible value in the path you’ve chosen. A degree in technology, computer science, or engineering is remarkably durable. These fields offer a significant return on investment, providing you with a stable, high-impact career that evolves alongside industry demands and skillset expectations.
