Salary & Pay

A number of factors are considered when determining the salary for a given position:

  • Salary grade
  • Industry benchmark
  • Internal equity
  • Position description, including individual’s skills, experience, and qualifications

Compensation consideration is also given to staff employees who take on additional temporary duties beyond their job description. In appropriate instances, situations like this may warrant extra compensation in the form of supplemental pay (see PPM 3-48 Extra Compensation).
