Film Studies

 

Film Studies is an interdisciplinary program that inspires students to cultivate a deep appreciation for filmmaking and analyzing the art of cinema to understand its social, historical and aesthetic implications. Through extensive experiential learning opportunities, you will acquire essential skills in directing, producing, editing, and cinematography. Film majors also have access to state-of-the-art production and post-production facilities, including a dedicated sound stage and green screen studio. Gain hands-on experience working with high-end cameras and industry-standard post-production equipment while exploring narrative, documentary and experimental production.

School of Performing Arts

 

Weber State University's Department of Performing Arts is comprised of three areas: dance, music and theatre. Student dancers, musicians, actors, designers, technicians and teachers learn and train in a creative and supportive environment, housed in northern Utah's premiere performance venue, the Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts. In addition, each area works with other disciplines across campus, in the community and around the world.

Department of Visual Art & Design

 

A major in visual art and design at Weber State prepares you for careers and advanced study in many areas of visual culture. Our students are equipped to work as independent artists and designers, arts administrators and educators. Our graduates go on to careers in advertising and design businesses; they work in digital and traditional media; and they create illustrations to make complex ideas comprehensible. They use their art to create dialogue and challenge thinking in a complex, pluralistic world.
