Deer Valley Music Festival - Summer Operations Internship - Stipend

The Operations Intern will be responsible for assisting with guest artist hospitality, artist transportation, and concert operations. Utah Symphony - Front of House Internship - Paid

Utah Symphony | Utah Opera’s Volunteer Manager summer intern is responsible for assisting the Front of House Director and coordinating a volunteer staff of over 100 volunteers per event for the Deer Valley® Music Festival. Part-Time Museum Education & Public Programs Intern - Union Station - Paid

The Museums at Union Station celebrates and interprets the city, educating the public about its distinctive character, especially its heritage of diversity, opportunity, and perpetual transformation. The Museum seeks a Digital Projects Intern as an apprenticeship under the Museum Curator. The role is a researcher, storyteller, and project manager all in one, and helps with the expansion and awareness of the Museums at Union Station's brand and digital footprint by identifying, curating, and marketing our exhibitions and collections in digital applications (apps, online channels) that reaches both our on-site visitors and digital community.

Film Intern - District Office of Congressman Blake Moore - Stipend

Congressman Blake Moore's District Office is seeking a summer 2023 film intern. In partnership with the Library of Congress, Representative Moore is working to collect and preserve the stories of America’s veterans in video interviews through the Veterans History Project (VHP) so that future generations of scholars and citizens can learn the stories and sacrifices of their nation’s soldiers. As a film intern, you will be primarily concerned with helping accomplish this mission. You will be tasked with running the camera, microphones, and lighting so that the interviewer and interviewee can focus on a good interview. You will then edit the interview and prepare it to be turned over to the archives at the Library of Congress. Podcast Production Internship - One Ogden - Stipend

One Ogden interviews individuals throughout Weber County who are involved in government, business, arts, and service organizations. We need an intern to assist with editing audio for each episode, and posting guest-related content to social media.

Your primary duty will be to edit each week’s episode. You will be given an audio file of an interview and expected to use audio editing software (such as Audacity or Adobe Audition) and your judgement to trim out unclear or unnecessary portions of the interview before the completion deadline (approximately 3 hours per week).

You will also be expected to create and post promotional content each week on all social media platforms and perform other engagement-related work such as
liking, commenting, following local content (approximately 2 hour per week). Additional opportunities to interview individuals, create video content, and create voice-over content may be available based on applicant’s skills and interest.
 

Skills Needed: Familiarity with audio editing (must have a computer with 1 GB usable space) Familiarity with social media marketing

Operation Intern - Waterford - Paid

If you want to have a FUN summer the includes traveling, hosting events, making new friends, learning new skills, and working for a non-profit organization with an outstanding mission, we want you to join us! During the first half of the summer, you can expect to work 40 hours per week in our offices located in Taylorsville and West Jordan, Utah. This time will be spent preparing equipment, performing administrative tasks, and training for events. The second half you get to run events. You will interact with caregivers and children face-to-face in various event locations every single day. This position runs from May 30, 2023 - the end of August 2023. Opportunities to start earlier (May 1) and/or stay on later (October) will be available. A $100 bonus will be given to Associates after their first six weeks of work is completed!

District Office of Congressman Blake Moore

Interns in Congressman Moore’s District Office must act as a jack of all trades. There are some key responsibilities, such as answering the phones and drafting responses to constituent mail, that will be consistent throughout the internship. But there will also be a diversity of projects that are assigned to them by the Congressman and staff throughout the internship. These projects will pertain to what is going on in Congress and the First District while they are interning.

We are asking for 20-40 hours a week. We are flexible with school schedules but ask for a consistent schedule within the 9-5 Monday through Friday work week.

The internship is paid and pay rate will be determined by how many hours the intern works a week.

Hogle Zoo - Special Events Internship - Unpaid

The Special Event Internship Program is designed to provide participants with practical learning experience and knowledge in the field of special events. In return, the intern makes a significant contribution to the guest experience. Intern duties may include planning and implementation including, but not limited to, the procurement of supplies, booking of entertainment, set-up and breakdown. Duties may vary based on skill level and departmental needs: 

  • Design and implement new plans and ideas for special events, including the concepts of conservation, education, and entertainment.
  • Assist the Special Events Team with planning, set up, and tear down of Zoo Brews, one of our big fundraisers.
  • Reach out to organizations and individuals for the procurement of auction items and entertainment.

Hogle Zoo - Education Internship - Unpaid

The Education Internship Program is designed to provide participants with practical learning experience and knowledge in the field of informal education. In return, the intern makes a significant contribution to the Education Department. Intern duties may include the following:

  • Assist the education staff in the supervision and instruction of summer camp participants. Lead camp activities as required.
  • Assist education staff in the daily and weekly set-up, clean-up, and facilitation of each program.
  • Design and implement classroom projects, activities and games for summer camps.
  • Design and write the curriculum for a one-day camp program with support from the education staff.
  • Learn the proper handling protocols of Tier 1 education ambassador animals as part of interpretive talks for guests and camp students.
  • Assist the education staff in coordinating and presenting special day events on site.
  • Keep a weekly journal of activities and observations

ABC Good Things Utah - Unpaid

ABC4 Utah interns are given a “hands on” experience in behind the scene production elements of a live daily talk show and news broadcasts. We let our interns assist in specific production duties and give them responsibilities which are not only beneficial to your education, but play an important role in our show production.

You will have the opportunity to give our producers input on show content, go with our live crews for remote segments and public appearances. Our interns have the opportunity to have a strong presence and interaction with our show guests and studio audience. You will experience studio production as well as content production elements of Good4Utah.

Please note that all interns are required to be in school and receiving school credit to qualify.

Our interns help us and get experience with everything below.

  • Booking guests and interacting with them on arrival for their segment and answering questions
  • Writing our daily show promos and seeing them through on the production side (entering them in along with their graphics into ENPS software)
  • Assisting producers in stacking shows and writing teases
  • Helping gather social media content for distribution on our different outlets
  • Writing web articles for our site and attaching the segment video
  • Video production for segments on the show

Weber State Weekly - Student-interns - UNPAID

Student-interns will be tasked with producing news-style short videos for social media (Instagram and TikTok) that inform Wildcat fans and the community about things happening within the various athletic programs on campus using statistics and stories.

 

Student interns will also have the optional opportunity to appear on one of our weekly podcasts interviewing Wildcat student-athletes and analyzing games from the previous week.

Ogden Mustangs - Broadcasting, Camera, Broadcast Director, Docuseries

Candidates would have the opportunity to rotate through different media communications positions to get a broad understanding on the process of setting up through the Hockey TV platform, camera operator, interviews with players and coaches, looking up team/player stats for play by play broadcaster,, media diretor understanding the process of switching between cameras during broadcast. The Ogden Mustangs are also working with a local production company that is producing a docu-series. They are documenting the journey of the team and players as they strive to obtain an NCAA scholarship.

Video Life Productions, Layton - video editing internship - $20-$30/hr

This company primarily services local established corporations and nonprofits with all their corporate video needs. They are rapidly expanding and are in need of some extra contract editors who can work part time remotely.
 
This would be contract work, which means you would be in charge of your own taxes.  Hours may vary at times between 10-20 hours a week, which will be flexible and can be done on their own time, as long as deadlines are met.  
 
You will need to be proficient in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, especially in Premiere Pro. Experience with Descript would be ideal, but we are willing to train (it's pretty user-friendly).  You will also need access to an editing system that can handle 4k proxy files to edit talking head interviews with b-roll for various corporations and organizations.
There may also be future opportunities to edit product videos and social media content for clients, as well as opportunities for continued part-time and full-time employed positions in coming months.  Currently they have big projects for the University of Utah, as well as an in-house training video for a Harley Davidson Motorcycles Dealership conference

Marketing & Communications is again looking for student writers for our internship program. They need writers for our programs in College of Science, Social & Behavioral Sciences, Stewart Library and College of Health Professions. They are also looking for a videography intern for Marketing & Communications. Most positions will begin in fall, but a few are open now.

Note that student writers do not need to be involved in those areas already. They are looking for skills such as social media, writing, web, graphic design and video.  Once hired, you will be placed in the program that best fits your skill set.
