Located in Elizabeth Hall, Room 210, the Ogden Writing Center is dedicated to empowering students to express themselves more confidently and more clearly.

We offer professional, friendly assistance with writing for any class or project - from course essays and research papers to personal statements and presentations. Whatever you are working on, we are here to help you succeed!

SPRING HOURS 2026

Drop in online or in person, or make an appointment by signing into the Starfish app.

In-Person or Online Drop-In and Appointments

Monday - Thursday | 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Friday | 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Online Appointments Only

Saturday | 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The Writing Center opens on Monday, Jan. 12.

Holiday closure dates: Jan. 19, Feb. 16, and March 2 - 6.

Spring semester ends on April 23, and the Writing Center will be closed until summer semester.

IN PERSON TUTORING SESSIONS

For drop-in tutoring session on campus, come to Elizabeth Hall, Room 210. The office assistant will help you get started.

How to conduct your tutoring appointment on campus
1. Log in at the kiosk at the entrance using your W number.
2. Unless you are brainstorming a project, print the writing you’d like to discuss with the tutor using the computer next to the printer. Printing is free for tutoring sessions. You can also email your paper to us at write@weber.edu and we will print it for you.
3. Have a seat and our office assistant will let the tutor know you're ready for tutoring!

ONLINE TUTORING SESSIONS

For a virtual drop-in tutoring session, please make sure your Zoom account is set up before your tutoring session. Visit WSU Zoom and then click "Sign In" to activate your Zoom account.

Virtual tutoring sessions are by appointment only.

Making an Appointment through Starfish

Our tutors can work with you online or in person; choose the day and time that works best for you!
Make an appointment by emailing us at write@weber.edu or by signing into the Starfish app.

How to schedule an appointment through Starfish
1. Sign in to the Starfish app.
2. On the Dashboard screen, find the Starfish calendar.
3. Select the course you want help with.
4. Select one of the Writing Coach tutoring services.
5. Select "Schedule".
6. Select your desired appointment time and location.
7. Alternatively, use this Starfish link to take you directly to the Writing Coach scheduling page.
You will receive a confirmation email to your Wildcat email account.

How do I get the most out of an Ogden Writing Center tutoring session?
- Remember that you can talk with a tutor before you write the paper in order to understand the instructions or brainstorm ideas to research or write about.
- Plan your time! Come in early in the writing process and leave yourself time to revise. You may also want to schedule follow-up sessions. Planning well allows you time to revise and edit.
- Bring a description of the assignment if available.
- You may use the Writing Center printer to print your papers. You can open your Adobe projects on our computers.
- Arrive on time to your appointment so you don't lose your slot.

Can I just drop off my assignment and pick it up later?
Do I need to make an appointment?
- Making an appointment is a good way to assure that you can meet with a tutor on your schedule. You can make an appointment on Starfish, on the website, by calling us at 801-626-6463, or emailing write@weber.edu.
- You are welcome to just drop-in to the center. Drop-ins are served in the order they arrive.
We will do everything we can to accommodate you, but please don't leave assignments for the last minute!

What are tutoring sessions like?

You and the tutor sit together at one of our tables with a printed copy of your writing assignment. The tutor will ask if he or she may read your paper softly out loud in order for you both to read along together. We hope you will feel comfortable telling the tutor what you would like to work on with the writing, such as organization, development, thesis statement, structure, grammar, or citations. Be sure to ask questions as you go along!
