Action 1: Attend The Fall 2022 Stress Relief Star Show
Description: The Student Wellness Center organizes a Stress Relief Star Show every finals week in the Ott Planetarium located in Lind Lecture. This event is open to students, faculty, and staff. More information can be seen on the Stress Relief Star Show webpage, and below are the Show's dates and times. Tuesday, December 13th from 12:30-1:30 pm. Wednesday, December 14th from 12:30-1:30 pm. Time Commitment: 1 hour Required Documentation: Write 3-4 sentences about what you learned or had seen. |
Action 2: Attend a Mindful Meditation Group Session *Faculty & Staff Only*
Description: The Counseling & Psychological Services Center offers a weekly virtual Faculty & Staff Mindful Meditation Group every Wednesday at "..." during Fall 2022. The Mindful Meditation Groups provide a variety of helpful relaxation techniques such as abdominal breathing and guided imagery to reduce stress and release tension. Register here for Faculty & Staff. Time Commitment: 30-45 minutes Required Documentation: Write 3-4 sentences about a relaxation technique that you learned. |
Action 3: Participate in a Free Group eXercise Class
Description: Participate in a free group eXercise class through Campus Recreation. They offer in-person, hybrid, and virtual classes. Click here to see the class schedule. Time Commitment: 1 hour Required Documentation: Write 3-4 sentences about how you felt about the class and/or if you would do it again. |
Action 4: Schedule Your Wellness Consultation *Students, Faculty, and Staff*Description: Regular checkups are important for long-term health and preventative care. Schedule your yearly physical through your doctor's office or the Student Health Center (students only). Click here for a list of services offered through the Student Health Center. Time Commitment: 1 hour Required Documentation: Confirm the scheduled appointment. |
Action 5: Schedule a Free Dental Screening or Your Regular CleaningDescription: The Department of Dental Hygiene has a Dental Hygiene Clinic open to all students, faculty/staff, and community members for low-cost oral healthcare. Call to make an appointment for a free screening or schedule your regular teeth cleaning at your established dentist. Click here for more information or call their front desk at 801-626-6131. Time Commitment: 1 hour Required Documentation: Confirm the scheduled appointment. |
Action 6: Walk a Route From Weber Walks or a Route of Your OwnDescription: The Student Wellness Center created a map of different routes and their associated distances on campus called Weber Walks. The distances range from 0.33 miles - 1.0 miles. If you aren't on Weber campus, you can find a nice place to walk around Davis Campus or your neighborhood. Time Commitment: 30 minutes- 1 hour Required Documentation: Take a screenshot of the route you walked. |
Action 7: Go Climbing at the Technical Training Center
Description: The Technical Training Center (TTC) is located in the NEW Outdoor Adventure & Welcome Center and offers a variety of clinics, certifications, and a climbing wall open to students, faculty/staff, and the community. A climbing day pass and associated equipment are free with an active Wildcard and many of the clinics are free or low-cost. Click here to view the drop-in and family hours for the Climbing Wall. Action 8: Schedule an Appointment With the Money Management CenterDescription: Schedule an appointment with the Money Management Center (Ogden Campus- SU 214A, Davis Campus- D2 262) for free financial coaching as well as help learning how to create a budget, save money, build wealth, understand your loans, and more. Schedule an appointment here. Time Commitment: 1 hour Required Documentation: Write 3-4 sentences about what you learned. |
Action 9: Record What Stress Relieving Activities You do For at Least a WeekDescription: Make time for yourself to engage in activities that help you alleviate stress. Keep a log of the stress-relieving activities you participate in for at least a week. The Employee Wellness Rewards Program has a Stress Management Log for faculty & staff to fill in with a minimum of 20 minutes of activities 2X per week for a month (get a head start by completing this action). Otherwise, a log can be kept on a phone, on paper, or in a spreadsheet. Time Commitment: 1 hour Required Documentation: Write 3-4 sentences about how the activities you chose helped alleviate your stress, or submit your Stress Management Log sheet. |
Action 10: Get Your Flu ShotDescription: "The Flu Vaccine is designed to protect against flu strains research will cause the most illness during the flu season. Getting the flu vaccine soon after it becomes available each year is always a good idea, and the protection you get from vaccination will last throughout the duration of the flu season." Flu shots can usually be scheduled online through any CVS & Walgreens pharmacies or your local doctor's office. In addition, $5 flu shots are available for students through the Student Health Center (SC Room 190). Call 801-626-6459 to schedule an appointment with the Student Health Center. Time Commitment: 10 minutes Required Documentation: Confirm the scheduled appointment or when you got your shot. |
Action 11: Visit the Stress Relief Center *Students Only*Description: Maintaining ones stress levels is important to our health. The Stress Relief Center provides a calm, comfortable, and safe space for students to wind-down from a busy day of classes, work, and there homelife. This resource is open to all students on campus and provides the tools and resources to reduce your stress and help your overall wellness. Things such as teas, essential oils, massage chairs, activities, books, nooks for napping, and so much more. Visit the Stress Relief Center in the Swenson Building to try out all their fun and relaxing ways to destress. Time Commitment: 20 mins Required Documentation: Write 3-4 sentences about what you did during your visit. |
