Material Science and Engineering Certificate
Application deadlines:
- For enrolling in Spring: October 1
- For enrolling in Fall: May 1
Most certificate courses apply to the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.
We also offer a foundational course: Advanced Materials Science and Engineering that can be taken independently or as part of Weber’s graduate certificate or master’s degree. The graduate curriculum is directly shaped by industry needs, equipping you with sought-after skills to accelerate your career through specialized knowledge.
Materials Science and Engineering is an interdisciplinary field of engineering and science, drawing from traditional mechanical, electrical, chemical, and industrial engineering and incorporating technological advancements in nanotechnology, biomaterials, and advanced manufacturing. Materials Scientists and Engineers design, develop, and manage the creation and application of advanced materials to ensure performance and innovation. Students will learn the fundamental principles and practical applications that allow materials scientists and engineers to contribute to projects from material selection to product lifecycle.
Students are awarded diplomas indicating completion of the requirements of the certificate program and will have the appropriate designation indicated on their academic transcripts.
What you will learn
- Foundations of Materials Science and Engineering
- Understanding material structure-property relationships and their applications.
- Introduction to materials characterization techniques and data analysis.
- Choice of electives to focus on specific material specializations
