Employee Learning Week
Monday, April 27 – Friday, May 1
Registration will open on April 1st.
We’ve reached a milestone worth celebrating! 25 years of Employee Learning Week. What started out as a way to keep faculty/staff learning throughout the 1-month academic break during the 2002 Olympics turned into an annual event celebrating workplace learning. Spring Break Training week eventually rebranded to Employee Learning Week (ELW). Over the last 24 years we’ve learned skills together, played board games, participated in treasure hunts, competed in regattas and pinewood derbies, provided service and more!
We’re celebrating our 25th year STRONG by bringing back some of the most popular classes through the years.
Join Employee Engagement & Success as we celebrate our 25th year of ELW!
Schedule of In-Person Events
Participate in our opening and closing events and choose from ten different classes featuring a variety of topics from past years of ELW.
Sessions are designed to spark memories of years past, build skills, and connect with colleagues.

Monday Opening Activity: Rock & Wripple
April 27, 1-3 p.m., Bell Tower Plaza | Listen to the tunes of local band "Standards and Substandards" while enjoying a scoop of Wildcat Wripple ice cream from Farr's. Take a stroll down memory lane through our poster boards showcasing 25 years of ELW History. Band will play each hour for 45 minutes with a 15-minute break in between. Register in Learn Weber.

Friday Closing Activity: Serve & Be Served
May 1, noon-2 p.m., NB North Plaza | Let's give back to our WSU campus community. Help the Basic Needs Center with a service project and then enjoy some fresh Dutch oven cobbler cooked on site. Watch a slide show of memories from the week. Bonus: make your pre-purchased tee at the t-shirt station! Register in Learn Weber. Order your t-shirt in Marketplace.
Tuesday - Thursday Classes
Participate by attending in-person classes scheduled around campus. Registration for classes will happen in BOTH Learn Weber and in the Marketplace.
Find all the details for each class below, plan your schedule, and prepare for registration beginning April 1st.
Download and print a one-sheet 'At-A-Glance' of the entire week to help in your planning/scheduling of classes to register for and attend.

Video Learning
In addition to our in-person classes, continue your learning throughout the week with videos that build on additional classes we’ve held over the last 24 years. We've selected 11 classes from various years. With each you can do the following:
- Learn about the ELW year the class debuted in, including viewing the flyer of classes from that year.
- Continue your learning on the topic by watching a video you can view at your leisure.
- Go back in time to some events that were happening during each of these highlighted years.
T-Shirt Orders

Remember 25 Years Strong with an iconic t-shirt to celebrate the experience. Two versions are available for purchase throughout the week. We're calling them 'Crunchy' and 'Classic.' You get to pick the design for the front of your tee to go along with the backside we've created for everyone. But wait, that’s not it… you’ll get to participate in the making of your t-shirt on Friday at the Closing Activity. The above three colors will be available in all sizes (unisex).
- Log into the Marketplace to purchase your t-shirt for just $15.
- Pick a design for the front of your t-shirt and place your order. (All shirts will have the same design on the back)
- Orders are due by 5 pm, Wednesday, April 29.
- Come to the closing activity at noon, May 1, to pick your color and size, watch your t-shirt get made, and take it home!
Register for ELW Classes
This year, registration will happen in two places. Some classes will use Learn Weber and some classes will use the Marketplace. Class details listed in the 'In Person Schedule of Events' section above specify which method of registration you’ll need to do for each. Registration for most of the classes during the week will be done in Learn Weber. Three of the classes with smaller caps on enrollment, where project supplies are provided, and each participant receives food or a project they've made, require enrollment in the WSU Marketplace to reserve a spot.
