Welcome!
The College of Science focuses on exploring our world from the smallest elements in the core of our earth to the farthest reaches of space. We concern ourselves with sustaining the future of our planet and the long-term viability of the species and ecosystems with which we share this planet.
Faculty members in the College of Science work directly with our students in service and research endeavors. We pride ourselves on engaging teaching and learning strategies that capture students’ imaginations while providing them with the skills and knowledge they need to be competitive in today’s science and mathematics career markets. Our distinguished faculty and staff are committed to excellence in research, education, and service. Our vision is to improve scientific and quantitative literacy, train the next generation of scientists and mathematicians, and increase human knowledge through pure and applied research. Current research is diverse and ranges from the regeneration of the central nervous system in zebrafish (applications to human stem cell therapy) to taking air measurements for atmospheric physics and from understanding microbial ecology of aged Cheddar to chemical microanalysis of a variety of soil materials.
We are committed to enhancing student success by offering exceptional instruction with personalized attention. We provide associate and baccalaureate degrees that support the community’s need for professionals ready to embark on careers and graduate work in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and sustainability. We increase awareness of this need with programs and centers devoted to K-12 outreach.
Inspired by the designs of successful university science buildings across the country, Tracy Hall Science Center is a state-of-the-art facility with breathtaking, eco-friendly, and ingenious features. Our modern laboratory and field equipment offers students additional training opportunities as they pursue their degree programs.
