Associate of Applied Science in Automotive Service Technology (AAS)
The ASE Education Foundation accredits this program. Students gain a broad range of skills and knowledge essential for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining modern vehicles. Graduates can pursue careers as automotive technicians, service managers, warranty representatives, or specialists in emerging technologies in EVs and autonomous vehicles.

- Grade Requirement: Minimum “C” in major courses; 2.0 GPA overall
- Assessment: Completion of assessments required for graduation
Track Options
- Independent Shop ATEP Track (44 major credits)
Covers a wide range of automotive service skills including: Braking systems, steering/suspension, electronics, hybrid & EV systems, engine performance, and shop practice - Heavy Duty Truck Track (41 major credits)
Focuses on systems specific to heavy-duty vehicles: Truck brakes, suspension, engines, drivetrains, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance

Learning Outcomes
Graduates will demonstrate an understanding of:
- Vehicle Systems & Repair- Understanding engine repair, automatic transmission/transaxle, manual drive train, suspension & steering, brakes, electrical/electronic systems, heating & air conditioning, engine performance, hybrid & electric vehicle.
- Diagnostics & Troubleshooting- Using diagnostic tools and software to identify and fix mechanical and electronic issues.
- Automotive Electronics & Computerized Systems- Onboard computers, sensors, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
- Shop Safety & Procedures- Following industry standards for workplace safety, tool usage, and environmental regulations.
- Customer Service & Business Skills- Communication and management skills for working with customers and employers.
Industry Licensure
Upon completion of the program and the required work experience as set by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), students may take certification exams:
- A1-A8 or T1-T8
