Bridge Pathway Program Admissions

This program is specifically designed to support international students in adapting to the U.S. academic environment while enhancing their English language proficiency.

Pre-Academic Pathway

Students admitted directly to the Pathway Program will follow a structured pre academic plan and will be issued a non-academic I-20 valid for two semesters. Completion of the Accuplacer placement test upon arrival is not required.

First Semester
- 3 non-credits ENGL 0900
- 3 credits WLC 1810
- 3 credits UNIV 1106 American College Experience
Second Semester
- 3 credits ENGL 1006
- 3 credits WLC 2810
- 3 non-credits MATH 0950 or placement test
- 3 credits in academic program
Third Semester
- 3 credit ENGL 1007 (EN1)
- 3 credit MATH 0990 or other appropriate math sequence
- 6+ credits in academic program
Fourth Semester
- 3 credits ENGL 2010 (EN2) or 4 credits ENGL 2015 (EN2)
- 9+ credits in academic program

Academic Pathway

Students who are admitted to an academic program and issued an academic I-20 must complete the Accuplacer test. If they do not achieve the required English placement score for ENGL 1006, they will be required to follow the pathway program outlined below

First Semester

- 5+ credits in academic program
Fourth Semester
- 3 credits ENGL 2010 (EN2) or 4 credits ENGL 2015 (EN2)
- 9+ credits in academic program

Admission to the Pathway Program

Bridge pathway program tuition is the same as that charged for all out-of-state residents.

**After visa approval, new out-of-country international students must pay a non-refundable tuition deposit of $250. This deposit will be applied to your first semester tuition. If you defer your admission to the next semester, the deposit will be carried forward accordingly for one semester only.**

All international students will need ACT or ALEKS placement scores for Math placement. Without that, students will be placed in MATH 0950.

Required Documents

Application Fee: $65 USD payable online with a credit card. Email us at intladmissions@weber.edu if you are unable to pay online.
Passport: Provide a readable copy of the identification page of your passport that lists your name, date of birth, and expiration date.
Educational Records: Official transcripts of your academic records and a diploma showing date of completion. Include certified translation into English if necessary. High school transcripts are not required if you have earned at least 30 degree-seeking credits at an accredited U.S. college or university.
For West African Students Only: Include with your transcripts a WAEC Scratch Card as well as all the required documents or necessary information needed to verify your results.
Bank Statement or Bank Letter: A bank statement or bank letter that shows the account holder’s full name, the currency type, the balance of the account, and a signature and stamp from a bank official on a bank letterhead. This document must be in English. The amount in the bank account should be more than the cost estimate (equal to one year of tuition and all other expenses).
English Proficiency: You must complete one of the following:

If your score is lower than the minimum required, we recommend you attend an intensive English language school, such as Lumos or The English Language Institute at the University of Utah. If you are lacking the English proficiency to attend Weber State and have applied to or are already attending a language school, we may be able to issue you conditional admission. If this applies to you, see Lumos Language School or the English Language Institute at the University of Utah

TOEFL - Please request official results sent to WSU using school code 4941

For exams taken before January 21, 2026: We require a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 35-52

For exams taken on or after January 21, 2026: We require a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 3-3.5

IELTS: 5.0
SAT Critical Reading score of 300-349
ACT English score of 14-15
DUOLINGO English Test: Score of 85-100 (please request official results sent to WSU directly from Duolingo)

Documents That May Be Required
1. Copy of I-20 and Visa: If you are coming from a university within the U.S., please provide a copy of your visa and copies of all I-20’s you have been issued.
2. Foreign Credentials Evaluation: If you would like to receive credit for your work from any colleges or universities that you have attended outside of the United States, you will need to have your credits evaluated by a foreign credential evaluation company. For a list of approved companies, visit Foreign Credentials Evaluation Services. You will need to have the evaluation done course-by-course.
3. Dependent Request: If you are planning to bring a spouse or children as a dependent, please complete the Dependent I-20 Request Form and submit the documents requested in the form.
International Application Deposit

3. Read and Agree to the Consent Page
4. Select the I-20 Deposit Fee payment option from the dropdown field. Do not pay on any other option.
5. Click “Continue” and choose the payment method, following the prompts to enter your payment information and complete the transaction.
