The Mountains Are Calling: Visitors and and Tourism's Cost in Yosemite
Michael Childers
7 p.m. in LH 101
Over four million people visit Yosemite National Park every year to stand at the base of Yosemite Falls, walk among giant sequoias of Mariposa Grove, and listen to a ranger tell of the park's natural history during a fireside talk.
Based on his recent book, The Mountains Are Calling: Tourists and the Unmaking of Yosemite National Park, Colorado State University history professor, Michael Childers, will explain how visitor's helped build Yosemite's popularity, while also becoming its greatest environmental threat.
