Service Commitment

Embedded in Weber State University’s commitment to extraordinary undergraduate teaching is a desire to educate students about the importance of giving back and serving others, locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.

The Center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) at WSU provides service-learning and volunteer opportunities that foster engaged citizenship and inspire innovative teaching. By partnering with community organizations, CCEL also creates connections and opportunities to serve, grow, and build a community that thrives. WSU’s dedication to service is reflected in the nearly 4,000 students who, in 2013-14, logged almost 177,000 volunteer hours.

The efforts of the university and its students, faculty, and staff have not gone unnoticed. In addition to receiving the prestigious Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement in 2008, WSU has been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for eight consecutive years.
