Internships and Student Jobs

The Department of Marketing & Communications hires student interns in graphic design, web design, social media, and writing/marketing.

Most interns are expected to work 15–20 hours a week. We offer flexible hours, typically within a 9–5 workday, that work around your course schedule and a competitive hourly rate. Some of these opportunities may fulfill internship requirements in your major. Please consult your academic internship coordinator to see if it meets requirements.

Graphic Design

The primary responsibility of the student graphic designer is to assist the Marketing & Communications design team with creating print and digital graphics for the university. Students in the role will gain entry-level experience in graphic design and develop skills in project management, utilizing a brand as an in-house designer, and working with a creative team.

Web Design

Weber State’s website is continually edited to make it easier for prospective students to find up-to-date information on academic programs and opportunities. We are seeking students with an understanding of UI/UX design to help us in this effort. 

In this position, students will gain experience working independently or with web developers, updating web content, and upholding branding and website standards.

Writing/Marketing

We’re looking for junior and senior students majoring in communication, English, professional sales, or marketing to assist the university’s marketing efforts. Students in this position will gain experience working on public-facing writing projects and social media and have the opportunity to learn from communication professionals. Applicants for this role may be hired to work in Marketing & Communications or be referred to a college marketing director for a similar position.

Photo/Video

We are looking for a junior or senior student majoring in digital media, multimedia journalism, film studies, visual arts or another photo/video-related field to assist the department’s videographer and photographer.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Working with department videographer and photographer to produce quality media products.
  • Assisting on photo and video shoots.
  • Photographing events and daily life at Weber State.
  • Supporting the department in producing videos that share WSU success stories.

This is a pool position. Hours will not be consistent from week to week. Student workers will be assigned individual photo/video shoots as they fit with their schedules and the needs of Marketing & Communications.
