Research Areas of Interest

My materials research focuses on electronic materials. Previously, I've worked with the development of silicon-based thin films and nanostructures for photovoltaics and light emitting devices. In industry, I've worked on III-V multijunction solar cells for concentrated PV as well as new inorganic polycrystalline thin film development for solar energy conversion. Additionally, I've helped develop ZnON films for thin-film transistors applications in active-matrix displays.

Specific Projects

My students are currently working on two projects: creating a solar water heater with thin film selective absorbers made in our sputtering system and a perovskite solar cell project. In both projects, students are exposed to the entire materials development process from start to finish: making a material, testing the material, incorporating it into a device, and testing the device.
