Electronics Engineering Technology

• Certificate 

  Students completing the Solar Photovoltaic Systems Certificate of Proficiency will be able to demonstrate the following outcomes:

  • 1. Expertise in the siting, design, analysis and performance of PV systems from site specific information .
  • 2. Verify system design, manage project, install electrical and mechanical components, complete system installation, and conduct maintenance and troubleshooting of Solar PV sites.
     
• Associate Degree

  At the end of their study at WSU, students completing the Associate of Applied Science in Electronics Engineering Technology degree will have attained the ability to: 

  • 1. Select and apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of the discipline in the design application, installation, and implementation of electrical and electronic systems. 
  • 2. Select and apply a knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to industrial automation, digital systems and microcontrollers, communications and signal processing to develop practical solutions for engineering technology problems. 
  • 3. Conduct, analyze and interpret experiments and apply experimental results to improve processes. 
  • 4. Identify, analyze, and solve broadly-defined problems through analysis and experimentation leading to modification of systems, components and processes. 
  • 5. Develop a knowledge of the impact of engineering technology solutions in a societal and global context 
  • 6. Have a commitment to quality, timeliness and continuous improvement

• Bachelor Degree

  Students completing the Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology will demonstrate the following outcomes:

   

  • An ability to select and apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools to analyze AC, DC, digital, and microprocessor based circuits.
  • An ability to select and apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to electronics related problems.
  • An ability to conduct measurements using modern lab equipment and  analyze and interpret experimental results in lab reports, using the results to make improvements.
  • An ability to design electronic circuits, systems or processes that solve an engineering problem An ability to function effectively as a member or leader on a technical team.
  • An ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems with electronic circuits or electronic systems.
  • An ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication to relate technical information, using appropriate technical literature for support.
  • An understanding of the need for, and ability to engage in, self-directed continuing professional development
  • An understanding of, and a commitment to address, professional and ethical responsibilities including a respect for diversity.
  • Knowledge of the impact of engineering technology solutions relating to our community and on a global level.
  • Commitment to quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.

The Electronics Engineering Technology Department (EET) provides applications-oriented education which produces graduates who are prepared to make significant contributions in technology based career fields.  The programs in the department prepare students to incorporate computer and electronic systems in solving engineering, technology, science, and manufacturing problems.

The Department offers an Associate of Applied Science degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (EET).  The department also offers a minor in Electronics Engineering Technology.

• Direct Assessment – course or program embedded assessment tools

Student Exit Exams:

• Students will pass an exit exam in the sophomore and junior years with a proficiency of 70% or better.  The exam will be implemented in Spring 2014 in CEET 2140 and CEET 3010 to determine effectiveness. Course assignment, quiz, and exam scores.  70% or better is a passing grade. Certifications Course Rubrics are used for student projects in project based courses
