Graduate Awards & Scholarships

Graduate Awards

Each spring the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences faculty meets to determine which students will be awarded departmental awards among their graduating class.  The following are the awards that are given out.

♦ Outstanding Earth and Environmental Science Graduate Award: Awarded to the student(s) with, among other criteria, the highest grade point average(s).

♦ Sigma Gamma Epsilon, W.A. Tarr Award: This award is voted upon by active members of the department's Sigma Gamma Epsilon, Eta Gamma Chapter and ratified by the department faculty. A certificate is sent from the national Sigma Gamma Epsilon office, for presentation to the awardee.


Scholarships

As an Earth and Environmental Science major, you are eligible to apply for WSU Scholarships, College of Science Scholarships & Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences Scholarships. Please keep in mind that in order to qualify for a college level or department level scholarship, you must also have completed application information at the university level.

When applications are being accepted for the upcoming academic year, information on our department scholarships can be found in the following locations:

Wyoming Geological Association - The Wyoming Geological Association offers three different scholarships to help support geology students. The scholarships are for undergraduate and graduate students studying and/or researching geology in the Rocky Mountain region. Please take a look at their website for full information.
