Apply to the Dental Hygiene Program
Weber State University’s Dental Hygiene Program application window opens annually on Oct. 15, and the application deadline is Jan. 15 annually.
This program is a "lockstep" design where students are admitted together and continue through the program together as a class.
After being accepted into the program, you should expect to spend 35-40 hours each week on campus in classrooms and clinical courses or studying. During the second year of the program, you will travel to complete clinical rotations off site as well as complete rotations in our campus-based clinic.
Carefully review the selection process and admissions criteria on this webpage. It is highly recommended that you make an appointment with the College of Health Professions Office of Admissions Advisement to review the courses and requirements needed to complete the pre-requisites that are required for admission. The Office of Admissions can also answer questions related to the application or admissions.
As a reminder, Weber State General Education requirements must be met to earn a degree from the Department of Dental Hygiene, along with prescribed dental hygiene coursework. University requirements to earn a degree are available in the WSU Catalog.
Applications are currently open.
2026 Dental Hygiene Application
RISK Notification: Dental Hygiene Department
Inherent risks are associated with providing direct patient oral health care for dental hygienists/students. Due to close patient contact, aerosol production, needlestick or instrument injury, etc. dental hygienists/students are at increased risk of exposure to infectious diseases. Students are highly advised to follow the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines for vaccinations for healthcare workers. Some vaccinations are required at some of our required clinical rotations; students are advised of these prior to the clinical rotations. In addition, dental hygienists/students are at increased risk to chemical and potentially hazardous drug exposure. The physical demands of dental hygiene procedures increase the likelihood of musculoskeletal disorders. Students are taught mitigation strategies regarding these risks; however, students must understand and assume the inherent risks that are associated with providing direct oral health care. (4/2025)
