Dental Hygiene Program Accreditation

The Weber State University dental hygiene program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), which is part of the American Dental Association.

The Commission on Dental Accreditation will review complaints that relate to a program's compliance with the accreditation standards. The Commission is interested in the sustained quality and continued improvement of dental and dental-related education programs but does not intervene on behalf of individuals or act as a court of appeal for treatment received by patients or individuals in matters of admission, appointment, promotion or dismissal of faculty, staff or students. A copy of the appropriate accreditation standards and/or the Commission's policy and procedure for submission of complaints may be obtained by contacting the Commission at 401 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 3300, Chicago, IL 60611-4250 or by calling (800) 232-6108.

Accreditation assures that students’ dental hygiene education meets the required standards set forth by the ADA Joint Commission and the Department of Professional Licensing for the State of Utah.

Weber State’s dental hygiene program is accredited with no reporting requirements by the American Dental Association Joint Commission on Dental Accreditation and has been since 1975. Accreditation reviews are on a seven-year cycle. The last review was 2017; due to COVID delays, the next review is in 2025.

The ADA Joint Commission on Dental Accreditation serves as a resource for accredited dental hygiene education programs and reviews complaints that relate to a program's compliance with the accreditation standards. The Commission is interested in the sustained quality and continued improvement of dental education programs, but does not intervene on behalf of individuals or act as a court of appeal.

Weber State is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).
