• Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning

  The Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL) inspires, motivates, and supports all faculty, regardless of rank or status, in their journey towards teaching excellence and innovation. We promote community and collaboration across Weber State campuses and create safe spaces to innovate. We strive to enhance faculty excellence academically and in life.

• Developmental Math

  Math is a core requirement for any program of study at any 4-year institution. Weber State Developmental Mathematics Department understands the importance of being successful in math and that this means different things to different people.

• General Education

  General Education is a university-wide program involving every college on campus and over 40 departments and programs to offer the program. The Director of General Education manages and provides campus leadership in promoting the program, including the assessment of General Education learning outcomes (GELOs), management of the WSU program of interdisciplinary courses, adjudication of student General Education Attribute Transfer Credit Petitions, collaboration with others to ensure smooth functioning of the General Education program (i.e., Gen Ed Council, USHE Gen Ed Task Force, Concurrent Enrollment, College Advisers) and other duties.

• Honors

  The Honors Program provides a university-wide home base for all intellectually curious, academically adventurous students, faculty and staff. Honors provide supportive, high-quality, interdisciplinary experiences that develop and expand both intellectual and affective dimensions. Honors builds habits of learning that sustain lifelong engagements with complex questions, issues and ideas.

• Mentoring Programs

  Our Peer Mentor Program boasts clear learning outcomes and specific focus areas to provide targeted support on your academic journey. Our mission is to facilitate the co-creation of meaningful mentoring relationships in an affirming community to address gaps in access, persistence and graduation. We empower students to use and share their knowledge to confidently engage in educational experiences throughout their lives. We aim to lead a deep culture of mentoring to transform the lives of our communities.

  We are one of many mentoring programs on campus.

• Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE)

  The Office of Institutional Effectiveness provides guidance, facilitation and oversight of academic assessment processes in support of continuous improvement and accreditation. The office supports academic program review, biennial assessment reporting, course evaluations and other processes that provide programs with contextual data important to improvement and relevance. We work with faculty to align program-level outcomes to coursework, leveraging the Canvas learning management system when appropriate and share the results of those alignments for faculty reflection and action. We are data-centric, both quantitative and qualitative and work closely with the Office of Student Success Analytics. OIE provides training and consultation as needed.

  The OIE dual reports to the Vice Provost and the Provost.

• Office of Interdisciplinary Collaborations

  The Office of Interdisciplinary Collaborations is the campus hub for interdisciplinary teaching and research. It oversees the Interdisciplinary Studies major (the BIS degree), encourages the use of the prefix of UNIV for university-wide interdisciplinary courses and also works to promote interdisciplinarity more generally. Its goal is to engage students, faculty, staff and community members in new and creative programs and classes, open up new fields of knowledge and help discover innovative solutions to pressing intellectual and social problems.

• Office of Learning Communities

  The first year of college can be overwhelming. A First-Year Learning Community helps make the transition to college easier with a positive support system. First-Year Learning Communities are open to all first-time students at Weber State. Special perks include easy first-time registration, connecting with students with similar interests and specific support available only to First-Year Learning Community students. Wildcat Scholars, our most popular Learning Community, provides a structured transition to WSU for first-year students who need extra support in college English and math in their first year.

• Office of Undergraduate Research

  The vision of the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is to strengthen and enhance the learning environment at Weber State University by engaging and mentoring students as researchers and scholars within and across the disciplines while maintaining the highest ethical standards. Educators, employers and graduate and professional schools all understand the value of an undergraduate research experience. Consequently, the University's Undergraduate Research Committee and OUR have worked to provide these experiences to students throughout Weber State University.

• Sustainability Practices and Research Center (SPARC)

  The Sustainability Practices and Research Center (SPARC) informs and educates Weber State students, faculty, staff, and the local and statewide community in order to ensure the sustainability of our region and our world for future generations.

  The Center collaborates closely with the Environmental Initiatives Committee and the Energy and Sustainability Office, serving as a hub to connect campus activities, programs, departments, and community partners in order to advance a commitment to sustainability in the region.

  We work with faculty to incorporate sustainability topics and materials into research and the curriculum.
