Bachelor of Arts in History Teaching

In addition to studying history, you’ll acquire skills to pass on your knowledge to the next generation of learners.

What You’ll Learn

As a history teaching major, you’ll learn about the perspectives and experiences of earlier generations and gain an appreciation for diversity.

Our courses cover how politics, warfare, theology, literature, environment and family life have changed over time. You’ll gain the ability to do original research, analyze and evaluate sources, write clearly and evaluate social dynamics.

In addition, you’ll learn how to effectively present historical material to a range of students and apply state-of-the-art teaching methods.

What You Can Do

As a history teaching graduate, you can become a secondary school history teacher. In addition, you’ll have all of opportunities available to regular history majors, including graduate studies and a wide range of careers.

Aside from teaching, graduates have gone on to careers in:

  • History
  • Law
  • Government
  • Business
  • Journalism
  • Film
