What does a Chemical Laboratory Technician do?
Chemical laboratory technicians play a key role in helping to provide products and services through chemical technology. As a chemical laboratory technician, you might:
- Team with scientists in the laboratory to study and develop new chemical processes and materials to meet society’s changing needs.
- Contribute to design of experiments.
- Measure properties of materials used and produced in chemical reactions
- Record and report experimental results
- Write technical reports
- Assure that processes are carried out safely, cost-effectively, and according to the highest professional standards.

You’ll be prepared to work in research and development laboratories and/or analytical laboratories. Both types of laboratories contain complex and sophisticated instrumentations that you’ll know how to use and maintain.
