Grade Requirements: A grade of "C-" or better in each course required by this major in addition to a minimum cumulative GPA for all courses of 2.0. Credit Hour Requirements: A total of 120 credit hours is required for graduation -- 84 - 87 of these are required within the major. A total of 40 upper division credit hours is required (courses numbered 3000 and above) -- 33-36 of these are required within the major. Advisement: All Geoscience students are required to meet with a faculty advisor (see above) at least annually for course and program advisement. There are no special admission or application requirements for this program. Students should meet with an advisor (see above) to plan and declare their program of study. General Education: Refer to the university catalog for General Education, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Arts requirements. Math QL1050 or Math QL1080 is recommended for the Quantitative Literacy requirement. The following courses required for the Applied Environmental Geoscience major will also satisfy General Education requirements: Chem PS/SI1210, Geosci PS/SI1110, Geosci PS1540, Phsx PS2010 & PS2010L, and Phsx PS/Si2210 & PS/SI2210/L. Course Requirements for B.S. or B.A. Degree Select two of the following:** Geosci 3400, Remote Sensing I (4) Electives Required (12 credit hours) Geosci PS1130, Introduction to Meteorology (3) or one of the following courses: Botany 3214, Soils (4) * No more than 4 combined credit hours from Geosci 4800 and Geosci 4970 may be counted toward the major requirements. # Students planning to attend graduate school in the Geosciences should consider taking Phsx PS/SI2210/L-PS/SI2220/L, Physics for Scientists & Engineers, instead of the General Physics series (Phsx PS/SI2010/L-PS/SI2020/L). ** Students planning a career or advanced degree in the mapping sciences (geospatial applications) should consider completing the Certificate program, Geomatics: Applied Mapping Sciences. ## Students planning a career or advanced degree in geotechnical applications should consider taking Geosci 3060, 3880, 4100, and 4150 as electives.
