The Olene S. Walker Institute of Politics & Public Service

The Olene S. Walker Institute of Politics & Public Service at Weber State University will cultivate civic dispositions within the student population and the community by fostering the civic attitudes of political efficacy, civic empathy, civic duty, civic confidence, and an inclination to engage in dialogue across difference.

Olene S. Walker, Utah’s 15th and first female governor, created the Olene S. Walker Institute of Politics & Public Service to help foster public service and political engagement for WSU students.

Internships provide students with the unique opportunity of stepping out of the classroom to enhance their education and gain experience in a real-world setting.

Civic Education

We support civic education on and off campus by hosting events, offering academic courses, and providing VOTE certification to Utah's election officials.

Weber State Talks is an initiative helping give people on our campus and in our community the skills to have civil conversations.

Weber State Votes supports the needs of our campus through non-partisan voter registration, voter preparation, and voter mobilization efforts.
