Auditions & Interviews for 24-25 are CLOSED.

We'll resume auditions in Fall of 2024!

To become a Theatre major or be considered for Theatre specific scholarships, all students must go through the audition and interview process. Auditions take place in October and February each year. When preparing for your audition, follow the best practices for each specific area below. For questions, contact andrewlewis@weber.edu.

Thank you so much for your interest in Weber State University and the Theatre Program. We are happy to invite you to participate in our 24-25 Virtual Scholarship Auditions and Interviews. We look forward to seeing your work and sharing with you details about our program, faculty, students, and our cutting-edge facilities and performance spaces. We look forward to learning more about you.  

The Weber State University Theatre Program will hold virtual auditions/interviews for scholarships that will be due by Wednesday, February 21st at 11:59 pm. You can submit your audition/interview materials here! Details regarding your audition/interview can be found below based on your area of interest.

We will also hold an on-campus Meet & Greet for interested students on Saturday, March 2nd from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. If you are interested in Weber State you should submit virtual audition/interview and attend the in-person meeting. If you're schedule won't allow you to attend, please e-mail Andrew Barratt Lewis at andrewlewis@weber.edu.

Students who participated in the Utah College & University Screening Auditions/Interviews need not submit videos/materials on our website, as our faculty will attend this event.

Below are the suggested best practices for your audition or interview. If you have any questions regarding the necessary materials or the audition process in general please feel free to reach out to Andrew Barratt Lewis at andrewlewis@weber.edu.

Musical Theatre

Prepare to upload your current resume, headshot and a video with either of the following:

  • Two contrasting songs (one-minute maximum length each) AND one contemporary monologue (one-minute maximum length)
  • One song (one-minute maximum length), one contemporary monologue (one-minute maximum length) and one dance piece (one-minute maximum length)

Acting/Directing

Prepare to upload your current resume, headshot and the following:

  • Two contrasting monologues (one-minute maximum length each)

Design/Technical/Management

Prepare to upload a current resume, photo and a video with the following:

  • Brief introduction of yourself
  • PowerPoint or Google Slides portfolio narrated by you (three-minute maximum length)

Theatre Teaching

Prepare to upload a current resume, photo and a video with the following:

  • Brief introduction of yourself
  • PowerPoint or Google Slides portfolio narrated by you (three-minute maximum length)

Playwriting/Dramaturgy/Scholars

Prepare to upload a current resume, photo, writing sample (not to exceed 10 pages) and a video with the following:

  • Brief introduction of yourself
  • PowerPoint or Google Slides portfolio narrated by you (three-minute maximum length)
