Author Archives in Lima

Program Details

The historical city of Lima (the City of Kings) is home to the private library of Jorge Kishimoto, director of the Center for Vallejo Studies. The vibrant cultural scene of Peru's capital city and unique collection of materials that Mr. Kishimoto has acquires create an excellent opportunity for students work hands-on with materials in one of the world's most important archives devoted to Peru's national poet and one of the most recognized Hispanic poets of the twentieth century: César Vallejo. During this program, Dr. Mulligan will lead the students in workshops on how to handle special collections materials, how to catalog materials so that future scholars may easily locate them, and how to identify and interpret elements of material history in the archival materials themselves. Most of our days will be spent in the Jorge Kishimoto Library, whereas during the evenings Dr. Mulligan will facilitate discussions among WSU students and Vallejo specialists in several cultural centers of Lima. Students will visit the National Library of Peru as well as Universidad César Vallejo, where they will give presentations on the research that they are conducting.

Trip Cancellations

If Weber State cancels a trip for any reason, all participants will be refunded 100% of funds paid to the school. If a participant withdraws from the program for any reason, they are subject to the refund policy found on the first page of the application.  Deposits are always non-refundable, unless the program is canceled by Weber State.  No refunds will be issued 30 days prior to program start date.

Refunds will NOT be given to students due to COVID-19 concerns. Before programs were canceled in 2020, every student was given the option to withdraw from programs without penalty due to COVID-19. This year students are applying, cognizant of the pandemic. Weber State will not intentionally place students into high risk situations. We will work together with Program Leaders and Departments on canceling should the destination demonstrate increased risks, be they from COVID or any other concern. As such, students must abide by the standard refund policy.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Study Abroad Office at (801) 626-8715.
