Healthcare in Geneva

Program Details

The MHA Healthcare in Geneva is a 6-day study abroad program in Geneva, Switzerland, designed for students in the MHA program to explore global health governance and the Swiss healthcare system. Students will earn 3 elective credits in the MHA program (MHA 6850). The trip offers a unique opportunity to visit and engage with leaders at major international institutions, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Mission to the UN, the World Bank, Geneva University Hospital (HUG), and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

Selection Criteria:

  • Valid Passport Required
  • Must be current students in the MHA Program.
  • Participants must be able to ride public transportation and walk on uneven surfaces for extended distances.
  • No medical exam is required.
  • Group size: minimum 15, maximum 22 participants.

Geneva, Switzerland.

Cost

Cost: $3200

Deposit: $500 Deposit is due 72 hours after registration. If not paid in that timeframe, you may be dropped from your trip.

Payments can now be made online! Visit this website for instructions on how to pay your deposit and future payments online. Charges should show on your account within 24-48 hours after registration. If you want to pay with cash or check, please pay at the Hurst Center for Lifelong Learning.

Includes: insurance, tuition, room and board, local transportation abroad, excursions, and some meals.

NOT included: airfare, visa fee, passport, incidentals, excess baggage costs, any unscheduled travel, and some meals.

This program supports Weber State’s sustainability goals and contributes to carbon-neutral travel initiatives.

May 10th: Arrive in Geneva, Welcome meet & greet, historical city walking tour.

May 11th: Lectures on Global Health and Economic Evaluation/Analysis (Campus Biotech), Visit & Presentation at UNAIDS, Chocolate tour

May 12th: Visit & Presentation at the U.S. Mission to the UN, Visit & Presentation at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), UN Guided Tour.

May 13th: Visit & Presentation at Geneva University Hospital (HUG) and Swiss Foundation for Innovation & Training in Surgery (SFITS), Visit & Presentation at WHO, Visit & Presentation at World Bank Geneva

May 14th: All day Cultural activities

May 15th: Visit to the International Committee of the Red Cross Museum, Lunch & Wrap-up.

Academic Courses

Students who participate in this study abroad program will be able to register for up to three (3) semester credits through Weber State University.

Trip Cancellations

If Weber State cancels a trip for any reason, all participants will be refunded 100% of funds paid to the school. If a participant withdraws from the program for any reason, they are subject to the refund policy found on the first page of the application.  Deposits are always non-refundable, unless the program is canceled by Weber State.  No refunds will be issued 30 days prior to program start date.
